We build strong kids, strong families and strong communities

The Family YMCA has designed an early childhood program where your child will grow and develop in a safe, positive, structured learning environment to create and enhance basic building blocks for a firm foundation for future success. Curriculum development is designed to introduce and reinforce key developmental milestones, the Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards, the Easton Area School District’s Curriculum and the YMCA’s Mission.

“ Children attending the YMCA Early Childhood Development Center score in the top 10% of the Kindergarten Academic Assessments for the Easton Area School District”
– Greg Shoemaker,
Director of Elementary Education Easton Area School District Administration |

History
YMCAs are the nation’s largest not-for-profit community service organization providing child care for 9 million children each year.

In 2004, the Family YMCA expanded child care programming by establishing its Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC). The ECDC, licensed by the Department of Welfare, delivers quality, affordable programming to accommodate full day child care for children six weeks through five years of age and a full day Kindergarten program licensed by the Department of Education.

In Fall of 2006, ECDC moved to a new, larger location in Forks Township with a licensing capacity for 154 children. The new facility has an increased capacity to serve more infants, toddlers and preschoolers. The new center features eight (8) classrooms, an indoor gross motor room, classroom bathrooms, fenced in playground/pavilion area and a separate toddler playground.

Toddler Programs
Toddler Programs are designed to introduce children to their first experience in a positive, structured learning environment. Curriculum is designed to emphasize social, cognitive and language development, self esteem, fine/gross motor and positive values through hands-on lessons. |
