YMCA charity

The Family YMCA of Easton, Phillipsburg and Vicinity is a non-profit, charitable organization. Therefore, the money that is needed for financial assistance, running our programs, and maintaining our facilities must all be raised from members of the community! We currently have two fundraising campaigns at our facility. Each has a different purpose and goal.

For information on charitable giving with the Family YMCA, contact 610.258.6158 ext. 25.

PRE-KINDERGARTEN TAX CREDIT
What Is the Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship Fund? The Family YMCA’s Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship Fund supports economically challenged families with pre-kindergarten children to participate in the Family YMCA’s early childhood programs.

The Family YMCA’s early childhood programs are designed to provide a positive, structured learning environment that coincides with the Easton Area School District’s (EASD) curriculum resulting in a successful start in Kindergarten and creating a firm foundation for future success.

How Can My Business Help?
Pennsylvania businesses may qualify for a tax credit when they make a contribution to the Family YMCA Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship Fund established by the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program, Act 48 of 2003. Act 48 authorizes the award of tax credits to businesses that make contributions to pre-kindergarten scholarship organizations determined by the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to meet the requirements of the Act.

For every dollar businesses contribute to the YMCA Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship Fund, the donation is 100% tax-deductible for the first $10,000 and 90% of any additional amount contributed up to a maximum of $100,000 per taxable year. This enables businesses to direct their tax dollars to issues that are of particular interest to them and to reinvest into the community.

How Does My Business Make a Contribution?
A business submits a one-page application to the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) of their intention to make a donation to a pre-kindergarten scholarship organization that is already on the approved list of organizations. A list of Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship Organizations approved through June 30, 2006 is available online at www.newpa.com/files/rptpksoonlylist.pdf

The application must be signed by the CEO or another officer that is capable of making such commitments for the business. The application is available at www.newpa.com, click on “Funding and Program Finder” and “Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program.” Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis until all the funds are used.

For more information on this program or how to make a contribution, please contact Cheryl Tuturice, Sr. Child Care Director at 610/258-6158 ext. 26 or cheryl@familyymca.org
